Juan Domingo Jiménez Rivera lives in Pantasma, Nicaragua, a big coffee producing city. In October of 1986 was going to Jinotega when he stepped on a landmine in front of the Health Center. He was 10 years old. Juan lost one of his legs and still has shrapnel throughout his body. He needs a prosthetic and crutches to get around. Despite being hurt at such a young age Juan has never accepted pity for his disability. He works hard in a shoe shop as an apprentice to the head crafter. Juan has a natural ability in the workshop. He would like a grant so that he can open his own business to make and repair shoes.
