- What is the Coffeelands Landmine Victims’ Trust?
- The Coffeelands Landmine Victims’ Trust is a fund dedicated to providing direct support to landmine victims who live and work in coffee communities throughout the world. The Trust connects the international coffee industry and coffee consumers to landmine victims and provides much needed resources for a wide range of rehabilitation services and economic development opportunities.
- How did the Coffeelands Landmine Victims’ Trust get started?
- Go to About the Trust page and see how it all began.
- Who is responsible for the Trust?
- The Coffeelands Landmine Victims’ Trust Advisory Board works in partnership with the Polus Center for Social & Economic Development, Inc. to administer the Trust. The board has representation from the coffee industry, coffee communities and civic leaders. The Polus Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to supporting people with disabilities since 1979.
- How does the Trust work?
- The Trust identifies individuals and communities in the coffeelands affected by landmines. Trust funds go to these individuals and communities to access a full range of rehabilitation services. The Trust works with In Country Partners in each coffee producing area to coordinate funding for Emergency Services (transportation to hospitals, surgery, physical rehabilitation), to distribute Micro-Grants and Gifts of Mobility Aids, to follow the progress of people supported by the Trust, and to be a conduit between the Trust and farming communities, individual farmers and coffee workers. Many of our In Country Partners are organizations that are already part of the coffee industry. They bring with them the experience of working with the farming communities, and understand what constitutes relevant support.
- What organizations does the Trust work with in other countries?
- Click here for the In Country Partners page.
- Does the Trust have any religious affiliations?
- No, although we are open to working with religious organizations.
- How do I make a contribution toward a Micro-Grant, Gift of Mobility Aid or Emergency Services?
- You can click on the Donate Now button on any page. This will take you to the Contributions Page, where you will be asked to fill out a form. You submit the form, and you will receive an email confirmation that will also be your receipt.
You can go to the People Affected by Landmines section of the site, where you can read about people seeking a Micro-Grant. On the full page Profile about each individual you can click on the Donate Now button and you will be taken to the Contributions Page, where you will be asked to fill out a form. You submit the form, and you will receive an email confirmation that will also be your receipt.
Keep checking the Updates Page (coming soon) to see how people are doing.
- Can I pay with a check?
- Yes, however, we can only accept checks for Gift of Mobility Aids and Emergency Services. Because checks take longer to process, the individuals who are seeking Micro-Grants may already be fully funded by the time your check is registered into the fund. If you have any questions regarding this, you can send us an email from the Contact Us page.
Checks should be made out to: Coffeelands Landmine Victims’ Trust

- Is my contribution tax-deductible?
